When Castelli invented the short-sleeve Gabba jacket for racing in the rain, it quickly also filled a need for a jacket for fast fall or spring rides where you need core body warmth but traditional jackets are just too warm. The Gabba was created for racing in the rain, and now the Gabba R does that better than ever. But if you’re like most riders who use the Gabba primarily in dry conditions, the DO.DI.CI. is the jacket that was made for you. The fact that the Gabba was created for racing in the rain means that breathability was compromised for water protection. If you’re not riding in the rain, then we can jack up the breathability and make a better jacket for dry weather. The secret is in Castelli’s Ristretto technology. Engineered air permeability means that we create fabrics that are mostly windproof but allow a very small amount of air to pass through the fabric, which carries away more sweat to keep you drier. How much air? DO.DI.CI. is Italian for “twelve,” as in the jacket providing 12 times the air permeability of the old Gabba. It’s like the difference between hanging your bibshorts to dry in a cold, damp room versus in a light breeze. The fabric is extremely stretchy, so you have unparalleled fit. What about the rain? The fabric won’t keep out more than a bit of road spray, but you can pack an Ultra Rain Cape or Squall Shell Jacket in the center pocket if your ride has a chance of rain. Available in both short- and long-sleeve versions.
